Caution deer tales ahead!!!

I have been out at mom and dad's since last wednesday and am leaving tomorrow. We came out so we could get some hunting in. Mom made an awesome hunters breakfast with about 12/13 here. The neighbor Dan got a four pointer and Bob one of the hunters got a 6 point but it wasn't any good...guess it had a gash or something on it and was infected. So that was the excitement for that day. Oh yeah, I did see six at one point and couldn't get a shot off that would have hit anything and I also couldn't get my safety off:-) Whooops. I did see a mink, and baby beaver also.

George left yesterday for home cause he had to work today. I decided to go out this morning to see if I could get anything. I was in our usual spot and I hear rustling around behind me...I turn and sure enough see a doe looking at me....I shot and knew hit it cause right then the stream turned red....I couldn't figure out where to go into the brush cause its so thick so decided to go up on this ridge to see if I could see anything, and I did see something....a buck staring at me. So I took a shot at him. Pretty sure I missed cause he took off running. So back to the doe I go. I start into the thicket and sure enough there it is, she takes off running but left a trail so I knew she wouldn't go far...or so I thought. Needless to say I spent an hour and half tracking her over hill and dale:-)I also forgot to tell you that I had by this time run out of bullets. So I took a few shots at her with my camera. :-) Finally she dropped for good right next to the railroad tracks which made it easy to pick her up with the four wheeler. So finally after about 2 1/2 hours I came back home with a doe:-)

So tomorrow we head home and will head over on Thursday to Eric and Lori's for Thanksgiving so I'll write after that! Til next time!! for more pics you can go to

Happy Halloween

Its been a week since we were out in OR and boy we sure do miss everyone!!! We had such a great time out there, spending time just Jill and I hanging out during the day and then time spent at the cabin in Lake Owyhee! It was all just awesome and we had a great time. The kids did great....except for the plane ride home:-) We won't talk about that!
So now Halloween has come and will soon be gone.....a few hours left in the night. Mom came out today and we took the kids to the mall...a great place to trick or treat!! Madeline was a princess much to the disgust of her father:-) and Oscar was a little rooster. Both absolutely adorable. Madeline and I had fun carving pumpkins yesterday and she was so excited when we lit them tonight. Monday night we also went to Heidi's 15th birthday party!! Lots of fun!

Oscar had his nine month check up yesterday. He weighs in at 22lbs, 29in. long and his head is pretty much off the charts:-) In fact percentile wise he's off:-) Has a large head:-) Gotta keep all his smarts in with something. :-) Then I took the kids to the mall and we went to the play area. Had a great time as always playing in the skid steer. Well its off to bed for me...where I should have been hours ago. So with mom here this week I'm sure we'll have lots of fun!!! Til next time!!

Unkie's 25th Birthday

Last night Christina invited us down to celebrate Unkie's birthday. We had an awesome dinner...some excellent coconut shrimp, homeade by Christina...not just the ones that come in the box:-) It was all delicious! And Nancy made a raspberry pie requested by the birthday boy:-) Also had a lot of fun watching the wedding video which was special since we missed out on that! Thanks dave for recording it! Loved all the comments from the guests!

Also in the news, a new camera for me:-) George bought me a Canon Powershot SD1000 so I've been having fun using all the fun features on that and the video camera, which our other ones doesn't have. We're looking forward to heading to a baby shower tonight. And them tomorrow sometime down to the Watkins for a short trip to see them all. And Tuesday to OREGON!!! Can't wait. Till next time!

Almost a month

Since my last blog:-) so figured I better update this thing sometime, what better time to do it than at 10:30 p.m. and almost falling asleep. Lets see what have we done in that time....ummmm its been so long I can't remember. We did go to Grandpa and Grandma's out in Freedom for some fun filled days. We went to the Arcade park with Molly and Grandma Sue, then went to Pumpkinville, located in Great Valley. One would definately need an ENTIRE day there:-) They did have this really cute ride with a tractor, pulling these little cow cars around in a circle.......which cost $3.50 for two times around the circle:-) Most def. worth it:-) hahaha, just ask mom! We did find some cute pumpkins, they had good cider and great pumpkin donuts!! Freshly tossed in the sugar.
Then on Thursday we took off and headed to the Buffalo Zoo. It had been beautiful all week and of course it would have to start raining as we got closer to Buffalo. But we braved the weather and eventually it stopped. After the four to five bus loads of high schoolers left we had the zoo pretty much to ourselves!! That seemed to be the theme of the week!! No one at the park, Pumpkinville and then the zoo, but we weren't complaining!

Then on Friday the kids and I headed for home. I have also become quite the farm girl lately. Learning how to run the skid steer, fill manure wagon then proceed to spread it. And just tonight I learned how to use the corn picker. Not sure if all that I am learning is going to be a help to me, it looks like it could mean trouble, now that I know how to do all these great farm things! Nancy has been watching the little ones while I'm out with daddy learning:-)

Tomorrow night the workers come for a few nights, then in less than a week we are headed to Oregon to meet our new niece and cousin Cora Rae McKerrow. We can't wait!!! Oscar is now 8 1/2 months and has started crawling this past week so nothing is safe anymore!:-) And we also reached another milestone, Madeline literally gave her bottles to the piglets!!! So she has been a whole week bottle free. She only had it at nap time and at night but it has made a great difference!! We have found out she likes to eat:-) Hopefully it won't be another month before I post again, then there won't have to be as much writing:-) and remembering!! Til next time!

Sick days

Both kids have been sick with colds, teething and such. Here are a few pics of what they've been doing the past few days:-) Madeline swinging in Oscars Johnny Jump Up, Oscar catching his runny nose:-) Spending half the day on the couch, dozing in and out of sleep, and Oscar being his happy self even while sick:)

Here comes fall!

I love this time of year when leaves are starting to change and the weather is getting cooler!! WAIT! Cooler weather, for some reason thats not what we have had lately. Aren't we supposed to be able to turn off our air conditioners once Sept. is here! Oh well.

A big congratulations to my brother Justin and Jill!!! I am an aunt for the first time! Cora Rae McKerrow was born on September 6th weighing in at 7lbs 4 oz. 19 inches long! I can't wait to see her in person but so glad for lots of pictures!!
Molly Shaw and Jim, Janet, Ben and Dana Watkins were here last week. We had lots of fun with them. The guys were here helping on the project.

Mom just left today, she has been out here since Tuesday and we have had a great time together. We went on Thursday up to Saratoga and Lake George and spent the day tooling around!
Thats about it on this end. Til next time!

Convention time is over:-(

What we so look forward to seems to just fly by!!! We went to Freedom and Altamont this year, as we always do and here they are, over already! We're just so thankful for all the little reminders we needed and the great help that we can always find there! Now its up to me to put those things to work!! It was great also seeing many of you bloggers at Altamont:-)

Although the farm isn't quite empty yet, in fact the cookhouse is still open for business:-) We're having a "little" work project here on the meeting building. So as of right now its looking like some workers will be here for at least four weeks, so there is still action going on here at the farm:-)

Other than that, Oscar is seven months old today!!! And in other birthday news.......... I'm going to be 28 tomorrow!! I know hard to believe right, I hardly look older a day over 20:-) ahahhaha RIIIGGHHTTT you all say!

Til next time!!
